Hello, Proofers (I'm still working on a term for people coming to this site... I'm open to suggestions).

I'm launching my first major feature since launching FIREproof into Beta... RMD's! Ok, it's not super exciting to have your retirement accounts get their Required Minimum Distributions taken out. But, in the name of accuracy and proper taxes I'm glad to bring this to the tool despite it currently being very US-centric.

The expected behavior at this point, is that each of your specified retirement accounts will automatically withdraw their RMD according to the age of the account holder and the current RMD tables according to this years tax code.

Funny enough, I have been working on this feature for the last week or more. Not because it was particularly difficult (a lot of the RMD logic was already there), but because there were so many smaller issues to work through!

Musings of a product launch

While I know that talking about taxes is extremely exciting, I wanted to briefly talk about the launch of FIREproof.

Like a lot of launches from a team of 1, I wasn't necessarily ready for all of the different ways that my users were going to use FIREproof. In the first 2 weeks, I worked through a lot of bugs that had to do with some of the basics.

• Login issues
• User information storage
• Off-by-one rounding errors
• Features that I forgot to fully turn on
• General Performance Issues

With a lot of help from user-submitted bug reports (Thank you so much!), I've managed to actually tamp down on the basic problems and move forward with actually developing new features. Keep the bug reports and feature suggestions comings.

This project is currently in Beta, but I'm including a subscription for a "Pro" version. Pro users will be the first to see new features, and will have a limited set of features available only to them. These subscriptions will support development of this tool and allow me to consider spending even more time on this project (Early Retirement anyone? A girl can dream).
